Description

This training is designed to assist individuals and helping professionals in setting effective personal boundaries to protect their physical and emotional well-being within family systems. It provides a comprehensive framework for understanding boundaries not as static rules, but as tools that evolve as we mature and encounter new life stages. Participants will explore the nuances of Requests versus Resolutions, learn to pinpoint specific triggers for boundary-setting, and evaluate the strategic use of Low Contact or No Contact as a means of self-protection.

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate Between Boundary Types: Participants will be able to distinguish between "Requests" which require the willing participation of others to be effective, and "Resolutions," which are self-enacted behaviors that empower an individual to take full responsibility for their own well-being.

  2. Implement Strategic Distancing Techniques: Participants will learn to design low or no-contact boundaries by controlling the frequency, duration, or depth of family interactions.

  3. Evaluate and Interrupt Codependent Patterns: Participants will learn to identify learned relationship patterns—including enmeshment, caretaking, people-pleasing, enabling, and overreliance—and understand how shifting their own role in the family system can create change in the overall system’s functioning.
