Identify your personal core values and contrast those with the values you were taught or inherited from your family, religious group, or culture. How authentic do those values feel to you personally? Values Inventory People in high-control systems often have trouble telling the difference between their personal core values and the ones they were taught to value by the group or culture. This inventory is meant to help you to differentiate between the values that feel authentic to you as an individual and the ones you were expected to embody by your group/culture. You can use this information to inform your future choices and feel more congruent. In the first column below, check the values that feel important to you personally. In the second column, check the values that your family, culture, or religion told you were the "right" values. Then compare the two lists. Are there any group values that you're still trying to live by that don't feel authentic to you? Do you have any fears about choosing your own values?
