While I see many different clients, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients, those who are navigating complex trauma, and those who have experienced religious/spiritual abuse or manipulation. I work with older adolescents, adults, and older adults. Therapy with me is grounded in deep empathy, creativity, curiosity, and a belief that meaningful change happens through safe, collaborative relationships. My goal is to help clients build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward meaningful, values-aligned change. Alongside my clinical work, I am also a doctoral student in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Pennsylvania State University where I am pursuing research interests of social justice and systemic change in counseling and religious/spiritual abuse. Through teaching, research, and practice, I value providing therapy that is affirming, trauma-informed, and responsive to each client’s unique culture, context, and experiences. My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. Due to membership, for 26 years, in a high-control religious group, I understand how belief systems can shape identity, attachment and self-trust, and how leaving can impact family, community and a person’s sense of belonging. I work with those who have recognized their experiences as harmful and want to find a way to a life of freedom. I work with survivors of religious and narcissistic abuse, spiritual manipulation and coercive control, including those who became involved in high-control groups where questioning was discouraged.
