I work with adults who are healing from religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and high-control or rigid belief systems. Many of my clients are sorting through anxiety, shame, people-pleasing, and a loss of identity after growing up in environments where fear, control, or strict expectations shaped their sense of self. My work is also informed by my own lived experience. I grew up in a conservative, fundamentalist Baptist environment, including Christian school and Bible college, so I understand from the inside how deeply these systems can shape your identity, beliefs, and nervous system. I know how confusing it can be to untangle what you were taught from what actually feels true for you. You might be questioning what you believe, trying to work through lingering guilt or fear, or figuring out who you are outside of what you were taught. Some people I work with are deconstructing their faith, while others are exploring how to stay connected to spirituality in a way that feels safer and more authentic. There is no one “right” path here, and I won’t push you in any direction. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I’m trained in EMDR and integrate somatic, attachment-based, and relational work to help process what you’ve been carrying and support you in feeling more grounded and connected to yourself. We move at your pace, always. I care deeply about creating a space where you feel safe to talk about the things that have felt confusing, isolating, or hard to say out loud. You don’t have to minimize your experiences or explain them perfectly. You get to show up exactly as you are. I also work with LGBTQ+ clients navigating the intersection of identity and religion, including experiences of rejection, shame, or loss of community. Healing from religious trauma is not about telling you what to believe. It’s about helping you reconnect with your own voice, your values, and your sense of self so you can build a life that actually feels like yours.
